Playing a rather ridiculous and sarcastic evil stepmother is the super talented Alison Hillstead💎💎
Alison Hillstead has been involved in the performing industry since apearing in her very first production, The Sound of music in 2002 and a year later, A lad in a lamp at the Guild Theatre. Since then she has gone on to perform in various shows at the Arts Theatre, Alexander Playhouse and Guild Theatre. In 2007 she performed in Jack and the Beanstalk, a traveling pantomime touring various parts of the UK. On returning to South Africa she appeared as Robin Hood in Robin Hood and the Evil Queen in Snowwhite and the Seven Dofs.
Putting on her directors cap in 2010 she created Sing It!! at the Arts Theatre.
Before moving to Pretoria in 2013 to study Musical Theatre at TUT, she got to perform in East London one last time as the mistress, on selected dates, in the well-received production of Evita.
While in Pretoria she was fortunate to recieve roles in T.V adverts such as The Homemark Curlique and various South African T.V series as well as working on set of The Avengers Age of Ultron and Neil Blomkamps, Chappie, staring names like Hugh Jackman and Dev Patel.
2017 was an exciting year when she traveled to America and became an ARTS Alumni, performing in Disney Land, Orlando Florida, meeting names like Nate Butler and other well known Directors, Agents and Companies, like Sony, Disney and Watersound Entertainment. Attending a master class at the New York Film Academy before returning home to South Africa.
Alison holds her grade 8 in singing through the Trinity College of London and her ATCL performers diploma in drama.
This year she performed at the Grahamstown Festival and now has the opportunity to play the role of the Step Mother in the Rodgers and Hammerstein, Broadway Production of Cinderella, directed by Amanda Bothma.
Alison brings this role to life like no other and is a charm on the stage as “Madame”.
