LOCAL GEMS: The Beach Break Cafe
East London’s Nahoon Beach is synonymous with surfing, life saving, dolphins, youth and langurous walks on the beautiful stretch of beach…and then of course THE BEACH BREAK CAFÉ.
Nestled amongst a canopy of milkwoods sits the Beach Break Café in Nahoon. 13 years ago Beach Break owner, Karen Henderson, followed her dream to have a coffee shop. Who would’ve thought that the once small hamburger shack with 4 tables would evolve into one of East London’s landmarks and most sought after spots for a juicy burger, a Beach Break Chocolate Brownie or the best cheese cake in town; not to mention the cappuccino made from a choice blend of beans supplied from an Eastern Cape coffee roaster.
As the Beach Break grew in popularity so did the menu grow to include their famous Butternut Quiche, sumptuous and generous Steak Salad, Chicken Pie and Home Made Curry accompanied with all the trimmings and so much more.
Wind and cold no longer affects patrons. A cosy glass enclosed deck, blankets and a toasty gas heater offers refuge from the elements in a warm atmosphere filled with bonhomie and chatter from locals and out of town visitors alike.
Keeping up with the latest trends the Beach Break now boasts its own Juice Bar dedicated to get up and go veggie juices and rich, velvety smoothies made from the freshest local produce.
Free wi-fi, a jungle gym for kids, sunlight dancing through the leaves and the sound of the ocean in the distance with a menu catering to any wish or whim, the BEACH BREAK CAFÉ is where one can truly feed the senses.
